Norrel is a waitlist page today, so there is very little to describe. This notice covers everything the site does with information about you.
What we collect
If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you enter, the time you entered it, the page that referred you, and any campaign parameters in the link you arrived on. If you answer the optional question about what you build, we store that answer too.
That is the complete list. We do not ask for a name, a company, or a phone number, and we do not store your IP address or your browser's user agent.
Cookies
Only if you accept analytics. Doing so lets Google Analytics set two cookies, _ga and _ga_D86HHR4F55, which is how one visit is told apart from the next. Nothing else on this site sets a cookie, and nothing we set is used for advertising.
If you decline, or if you leave the question alone, no cookie is set — not a limited one, not a shorter one, none. Your answer is kept in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, so declining leaves nothing behind at all. You can change it from the link at the bottom of any page, which also deletes the cookies if you had accepted.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see which pages get read, and it runs only if you say yes. Until then it is not loaded — no script, no request to Google, nothing. Declining is not a reduced mode that still phones home; it means the tag never reaches the page at all.
If you do accept, Google receives the address of the page you are reading, the page that referred you, any campaign parameters in the link you followed, and your device type and approximate location, which it works out from your IP address. Advertising features, ad personalization and Google Signals are switched off, so none of it is used to build a profile of you or to target you anywhere else.
We would rather have measured you with no cookies at all and no question to answer. Google Analytics cannot do that: the setting that used to switch cookies off belongs to an older version of the product and today does nothing, and the consent-based alternative reports so little at our size that it amounts to no measurement. So you get an honest question instead of a quiet workaround.
Who else sees it
Four suppliers process data on our behalf, and only for the purposes below:
- Heroku — hosting and the database that holds waitlist rows, both in their Ireland region.
- Amazon CloudFront — the content delivery network that serves this site.
- Resend — sending the one confirmation email.
- Google — Google Analytics, counting page loads as described above.
We do not sell your address, share it with advertisers, or add it to a list you did not ask to be on.
What we send you
One confirmation when you sign up, and an email when early access opens for you. Nothing else. Both come from an address a person reads: reply and say stop, and you are off the list the same day.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until we close the waitlist and no longer need it — whichever comes first.
Your choices
Email hello@getnorrel.com and ask for a copy of what we hold, a correction, or deletion. We will do it, and we will not ask you why. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top and email anyone on the waitlist before the change takes effect.
